Enhanced turmeric extract and intestinal health in piglets

Pig and Curcuma

Dear colleagues,

This week we have chosen an article showing how turmeric extract enhanced with a potent natural antioxidant such as resveratrol is able to enhance the performance and improve intestinal mucosa integrity and functions in weaning piglets.

Resveratrol and curcumin also increased intestinal antioxidant capacity and gap junction protein mRNA expression.

These data confirm that curcumin potentiation could create a good promoter of intestinal health due to its various properties as a metabolic antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory.

However, this is not the only way to enhance the power of turmeric extract: It is also possible to have synergistic effects by combining turmeric oleoresin with capsicum oleoresin, or combining turmeric extract with piperine from black pepper or with an encapsulating process, as you can see there are several strategies that go in the same direction.

In our case we have decided to work with NBG Protect technology which is a nano-encapsulation method, which protects and increases the digestibility of our turmeric extract. All this combined with powerful synergistic molecules create the NBG EnteroShield:

We will publish our first results in a few months… I just advance that the first ones surprised with the efficacy and power of our nano-encapsulated turmeric have been ourselves !

Enjoy the article.
