Nutritional immunity of fish intestines: important insights for sustainable aquaculture

Dear colleagues, this week I propose an interesting review of intestinal health… but in fish. Although the intestinal immune system in fish is less developed than in mammals or birds, taking care of the intestinal health and the associated immune system allows to improve in an evident way the whole health of the animal. In fact, the methods for achieving good health are very similar to those of terrestrial animals: a good combination of the right nutrients and different types of additives, from herbal extracts to probiotics.

Also, in my experience, additives developed to reduce the negative effects of stress work better in fish than in terrestrial animals… perhaps because aquatic animals have been recently domesticated and their sensitivity to stress is higher than in chickens or pigs.
