How to improve the nutritional properties of pet diets

Dear colleagues,
Having a good balance of nutritional concepts such as available proteins and amino acids, minerals, vitamins, nucleotides, energy supplied in the form of fats, carbohydrates and non-essential amino acids (an important source of energy in the case of carnivorous animals) is one of the keys to creating good pet food formulas.
However, even the best formula could be wasted if we do not take into account the animal’s metabolic and health status. For example, inflammation of the intestinal mucosa could drastically reduce the digestibility of valuable and expensive nutrients.
Any type of liver disorder could upset the balance between anabolic and catabolic pathways, cause costly immunosuppression and reduce the efficiency of eliminating toxic molecules and metabolites… once again consuming a large amount of valuable nutritional resources.
Oxidative metabolic stress can waste enormous amounts of resources such as energy, proteins, and key minerals needed to restore the endogenous antioxidant system based on protein molecules such as SOD, GPX, GR, GSH, or lipid vitamins such as vitamin E.
The conclusion is that if our pet has metabolic disorders, the effectiveness of a good diet is reduced and the animal’s nutritional needs change.
At Nutribiogenics, we are proud to assist our pet food manufacturing clients by supplying natural ingredients enhanced with HHH technology, which help reduce certain metabolic disorders.
Some of these products are:
NBG EnteroShield
Based on a curcumin core that helps protect the digestive system and reduce intestinal inflammation. Preventing poor nutrient absorption.
NBG HepatoShield
Based on a Silymarin core that helps care for the liver, improving its detoxification capacity and saving nutritional resources. It also helps neutralise potential mycotoxin attacks.
NBG OxiShield
Based on a core of olive extract rich in hydroxytyrosol and oleanolic acid, which helps reduce harmful oxidative stress that causes premature ageing in our pets and requires the body to expend enormous amounts of nutrients to combat it.
On this occasion, we would like to share an interesting article that explains how hydroxytyrosol works. Hydroxytyrosol is a cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, known for its high antioxidant capacity and for promoting longevity… which could also be true for our pets.
Enjoy the article.
