Effect of natural antioxidants on egg production and quality in laying hens

Dear colleagues,
This week we have chosen an article related to the use of phytogenics in laying hens.
The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of natural antioxidants in the diet—thyme, rosemary, oregano, and turmeric—on the productive and reproductive performance of laying hens and to study the oxidative stability of egg storage.
The conclusion is that all antioxidants tested improve egg performance and quality, with turmeric showing a clear tendency to produce the best results.
It is also interesting to note that the required doses of turmeric are half those of other phytogenics, perhaps due to turmeric’s multi-active effect on metabolism compared to other antioxidants.
In my experience, these doses could be reduced if we combine the different phytogenics with any type of capsule… obviously, I would prefer the system used in Nutribiogenics, but any type is welcome.
In our case, we obtain good results with less than 500 ppm, as we work with nanoencapsulation, an activator used in the same nanocapsulation, and our extract takes into account a stable form of curcuminoids and turmerones.
Enjoy the article.
