Antimicrobial activity of resveratrol-derived monomers and dimers against foodborne pathogens

Dear colleagues,
This weekend, I have chosen an article that highlights the beneficial antimicrobial properties of resveratrol and, in particular, some of its derivatives.
I would also like to mention that some of the most potent resveratrol derivatives are found in conifers such as Picea mariana and other fir species located in places with harsh climatic conditions, such as subarctic forests.
Boreal trees face opportunistic pathogens that benefit from harsh climatic conditions affecting the tree’s defence mechanism, so the tree defends itself with strong natural antioxidants and broad-spectrum antimicrobials.
Enjoy the article… and remember that pine and fir trees can also be our allies.
