Anticoccidial activities of Salvadora persica(arak), Zingiber officinale (ginger) and Curcuma longa (turmeric) extracts on the control of chicken coccidiosis

curcuma

Dear colleagues,

This week I have chosen an article showing 3 natural phytogenic anticoccidial alternatives: S. persica (arak) Z. officinale (ginger) and C. longa (turmeric).

All 3 products show very interesting results and although S.persica seems the best it is necessary to remember that the curcuminoids of C.longa have a limited action due to their low availability, so stabilizing and protecting these curcuminoids or other active molecules from other phytogenics is an issue to be taken into account to increase the phytogenics efficacy.

It is certain that to solve coccidial problems with phytobiotics more trials are needed but I am totally convinced that we are on the right track.
