Antimicrobial activity of resveratrol-derived monomers and dimers against foodborne pathogens

Dear colleagues,
This weekend I have chosen an article that shows the good antimicrobial properties of Resveratrol and especially of some of its derivatives.

I would also like to let you know that some of the most potent resveratrol derivatives are present in conifers such as Picea mariana and other spruce species located in places with harsh climatic conditions such as subarctic forests.
The boreal trees are confronted with opportunistic pathogens that benefit from the harsh climatic conditions affecting the tree’s defence mechanism, so the tree fights back with strong antioxidants and natural broad-spectrum antimicrobials.
Enjoy the article … and remember that pines and spruce could be our allies too.
